What does it mean that The Reading Skill Set is phonics-based?

Phonics is an approach that includes introducing a letter or group of letters and their sounds in order to decode a word. The Reading Skill Set is a phonics-based program that motivates your child to read through play. It includes playthings and books to support their phonemic awareness, fluency, vocabulary, and comprehension as well.
