The Animal Metronome has two settings. The first--when the switch is pushed to the center--will only turn on the light, which is located on the face of the metronome. As the tempo changes, the light will change pace but the metronome will not make noise. The second setting--when the switch is pushed fully to the right--will make a noise that syncs with the light.
After you move the switch is on the desired setting, turn the dial on the face of the Metronome from its resting point to any of the animals pictured. This will cause the noise to begin and/or the light to begin blinking, depending on which setting you have chosen. When the dial is pointed down, toward the BPM light, no noise or blinking will occur.
If all of that is in order and it's still not working, please try the following steps:
- Have you tried new batteries? Please double-check that your batteries are not expired.
- Are you using the right kind of batteries? The Animal Metronome takes two AA alkaline batteries. It does not take rechargeable lithium batteries.
- Did you install the batteries correctly? The positive end of the battery should face the (+) sign in the battery compartment, and the negative side of the battery should face the (-) sign in the battery compartment.
